Why does the Temple Mount not match historical record

• No mention of a rock (as in the dome of the rock) in any version of biblical temple
• Garrison of Judaea was a legion (6,000 men) doesn’t fit in current historical fort - fits in mount
• No octagonal mosques - many octagonal churches in Israel
• Was octagonal Christian church - muslims took & converted to mosque - crusaders took and converted back to church - Muslims took again and built current dome of rock.
• Temple of Domini - church of holy wisdom - Dome of the rock 
• Josephus describes water tunnels below the Temple, there are none at current site
